Hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens)
Hydrangea is a deciduous shrub that can grow to a height of 3m. It has a woody stem, oval leaves and clusters of small, creamy white flowers. The root is used in Herbal Medicine, it is pale fawn coloured, smooth with tapering branches and very thin bark.
Hydrangea grows widely in woodlands and on riverbanks. It is native to the USA.
Hydrangea is mostly a urinary system herb. It is diuretic (stimulates urine production) and nephritic (relieves inflammation in the kidneys).
